  1. Right
Just like your speed trapping for economic gain . I wonder how is it a town police dept gets to do that on a state rd .

    1. There’s no speed trap. Try following the speed limit. The new America where everything is someone else’s fault.

      1. Call it whatever you want, it’s policing-for-profit. Legal? Seems the courts see it that way, but it sure is slimy. To me, they might as well just put a toll booth over the highway as their radar/laser guns serve an identical purpose.

      2. You’re not better than anyone if you deny this is a speed trap. It has developed into “assembly line efficiency” and is supported by a sizable squad of ninja dressed and equipped staffing. They have themselves become the hazard on the highway. Meanwhile the town itself suffers from a high crime statistical rating from Virginia. Eastville residents are safer if they can reach the highway than they are in their own back yard.

If you don’t think the Eastville Police have an internal culture which would promote writing as many speeding tickets as possible, you are in denial of the attraction of cash combined with greed, combined with a criminal. You really believe a criminal officer would end the shift with less citations than the expected average. The incentives on the officers, their leadership and the town fathers is all forced the wrong way but never admitted.

If nine speeders are missed but it saves one innocent person from being the victim of criminal policing for money, it is worth it.

Your not supporting good policing, your sheltering an environment which promotes bad behavior and rewards it.

This is definitely policing for profit and is always wrong.

        1. No one is being “trapped”. The speed limit is not suddenly dropping to 25 mph. People are diving 20 plus mph over the speed limit and getting caught. Just because you and your friends drive like dangerous miscreants, don’t blame the police.

          1. I state facts, you make up what you want to use to make a point or a statement. You are using things that are absolutely false facts and accusations to support positions.

I stick to what I said. You’re entitled to live in your made up mind. Just don’t try to sell it to anyone that might fact check you.

          2. I was personally given a ticket by this exact officer for doing 73 in a 55 while I know for certain that my cruise control was set to 64. It had been set for miles and I was traveling with the flow of traffic in a pack of about 2 dozen cars. When I told him that I had it set, he told me he lasered me from nearly 1300 ft away, and somehow was able to target me specifically within a large pack of cars, and was extremely condescending about me driving irresponsibly and telling me “you’re responsible for the speed on your dashboard Bud” etc. I very politely accepted the ticket while telling him I knew I wasn’t doing the speed he claimed I was doing. I was planning to fight it in court, but now I don’t have to, because my case was dismissed since this guy has been indicted on a dozen felony charges. I guess he should have been responsible for his own conduct, Bud.

          3. According to “BetterThanYou”, you don’t exist. An innocent person abused by a criminal policeman just doesn’t happen.
And…You AND your friends are dangerous miscreants and sound like you might have a mental disorder because you can’t accept a simple speeding ticket when you get caught. We must remember you don’t get speeding tickets unless you are doing 20 PLUS over the speed limit. Jeez…what is wrong with you people!

This attitude clearly shows why the Eastville Speed Trap still flourishes. You’re lucky with your timing when you crossed trails with this guy. The D.A. Lost his star witness before your judgment day. He had no choice since this was a “you said” versus “he said” traffic infraction. How about
those before you that went through judgment day and lost because it was the officers word over the word of the defendant? Unless you had time stamped Video proof, the system is extremely bias in favor of the police. Routinely you would lose and it would have cost you more because you tried to defend yourself in Court.

If Eastville tickets were requiring community service instead of cash shared with them, you would never see another radar trap on 13.

  2. If the Town of Eastville remains committed to maintaining public trust and ensuring accountability in all matters, then why is the current town clerk/treasurer still employed after being accused/investigated for stealing money from Cape Charles?

  3. The case of Jerry Keith Brady Jr. serves as a glaring example of the systemic issues plaguing our law enforcement agencies. This is a clear indication of the need for comprehensive police reform and accountability measures. Innocent people have suffered at the hands of this so-called “officer,” facing wrongful incarceration and unjust tickets. We must demand transparency and better oversight in our policing practices to prevent this from happening again, ensuring justice is served for all citizens rather than allowing a few to abuse their power. It’s time to hold individuals like Brady accountable and push for a system that prioritizes integrity and the protection of innocent lives over the careers of corrupt officers.

  4. Seems rather disingenuous for the town to say(and the Mirror to report) that it’s only personal in nature. If nothing else, you should have reported how the mayor was actively trying to get the guy promoted so he could make more money so that he could, hopefully, repay loan(s) to the mayor. That’s more than personal in nature if you ask me…

Somewhat unrelated, when will you actually dig in to the financial scheme of Eastville? Do they have a plan for when/if the speeding ticket revenue dries up? Or does it not matter because most of the revenue goes right back to policing equipment and officer wages? How much money does the town stand to lose as a result of Brady’s indictment and outstanding traffic citations?

  5. This is not a personal issue when a public servant with the ability to fraudulently ruin innocent peoples lives is charged with crimes of this magnitude, duration, and criminal cunning. The town managers response is nothing short of nothing to see here and trust me I’m all about letting you see total accountability, after saying nothing. Why the hell should we believe you just because you said it?

I believe in innocent until proven guilty as a general rule, and it’s a good one. It’s not perfect when the presumption of honesty and integrity strongly favors the police during a typical disposition. In situations like this, a long hard look needs to be done with the history of this officer if he is convicted. It needs to be done by someone outside of the Blue Line influences which does not administer justice equally. It needs to aim to find innocent victims of a criminal public servant in power.

The Eastville policing for profit road pirates gang already says a lot about the town’s fathers and the attraction of cash. I have found the police themselves are much more of a road hazard than the typical average speeder I incur. I have to wonder what may be happening to innocent people if an environment contains a rogue policing mission, a town and a court that loves cash, and perhaps an enforcement officer more dishonest than we would ever know.

If convicted, this bad apple ruins the entire tree representing this officers history. Eastville…are you prepared to return every traffic fine, towing fee, impound storage fee, court cost, loss of wages, attorney fees, generated from this officers history? Did the Blue Line mentality keep a very bad actor hidden for years?

To the good people living in Eastville, you deserve better. Get together and make it happen before the Institute for Justice sues and shames your entire community. Your community continues to stand out for all wrong reasons.

  6. Not surprised at all!
Maybe he’ll get jail time because its a federal case and not a good ole boy case.
Like the missing/inappropriate loss of funds from Cape Charles.
But its ok, the chief of police was all over the case. Nothing to see here. Oh wait, is that person now working in Eastville?!
I’m just a social media warrior! LMAO!

  7. Not a speed trap – don’t speed and you won’t be stopped. We all see how people fly through Route 13. Good for Eastville Police Dept. – I appreciate them!

    1. I think you need to read the article again. This isn’t about a speed trap, it’s about an officer defrauding people out of over $800,000.

  8. “I state facts, you make up what you want to use to make a point or a statement. You are using things that are absolutely false facts and accusations to support positions.
I stick to what I said. You’re entitled to live in your made up mind. Just don’t try to sell it to anyone that might fact check you.”
Boy, you sure do sound like a narcissist I know. Next time include the phrases, “I have documented proof”, and “Bank on it” as it really solidifies your “can’t take responsibility for something as simple as speeding and getting caught” position.

  9. “According to “BetterThanYou”, you don’t exist.” Fishingman727 is playing the classic narcissist triangulation play. Bringing in a third person to your failed argument doesn’t work.

    1. Eastville has fostered a classic speed trap for profit for years. Always bad press for the town. The money always wins, so far.

I have no doubt it results in lots of bogus charges. The town has a high crime rate among its peers. The ticket mill is not even in town. The police force is overpaid, over staffed, and operates with very expensive equipment and vehicles and uniforms which are “stealthed” out. Everything is not a covert operation for Eastville to act that way. It fosters an attitude which is far from “serve and protect” the public into one of the “out to get the public” bad environments. They are a traffic hazard on 13 themselves. On two occasions the Police caused me to do serious unexpected maneuvers to avoid a potentially very dangerous high speed accident. In both circumstances, the police acted in reckless disregard to the public safety of others on the road. All to write another damn speeding ticket to get the money.

A previous police chief admitted to federal investigators he was pressured to write more tickets. Officers are now being charged with serious crimes. The Institute For Justice is looking at Eastville. The town fathers profess nothing to see here and keep on supporting it. Local news outlets are writing about it all the time. When the legal defenses start, the good people of Eastville will pay dearly to defend the town fathers for it. I try to avoid Eastville on my travels to avoid bad policing and this impacts it’s businesses as well.

Mr. “Better than you” insists nothing to see here except I’m a narcissist. Sometimes stupid isn’t a strong enough description.
