Special public hearing on the Town of Exmore’s proposed funding for the $1.8 million water improvement project–a project that will improve quality of life for more than 1400 Town residents.
Exmore (November 6, 2017) – The Exmore Town Council will hold a public hearing on November 20, 2017 at 5:00 pm to receive public comments on the proposed funding for upgrading the Town’s water supply systems, a project that will improve water quality for more than 1,460 community residents. The open hearing will be held in the Council Meeting Room in the Exmore Town Hall, 3305 Main Street.
The project includes two new wells, the construction of a greensand oxidizing water filtration facility and construction of a backwash main force plus related appurtenances. The November 20 meeting will focus on the project, the alternatives considered, the environmental impact, the estimated costs and associated user fees.
Project expenses are calculated to be $1.8 million, with $813,000 in loans coming in from the State of Virginia’s Water Supply Revolving Fund along with $550,000 in direct grant funding from the same agency. Additional funding is being secured through a Community Block Grant for $500,000.
“This is a construction ready project, and we are set to go,” said Mayor Doug Greer. “We invite public input and feedback as we move forward to bring Exmore’s residents and business owners high quality, cost effective public services.”

Cape Charles has to upgrade and improve our water supply. The stuff that comes out of the tap is not even fit to make coffee with. We all pay huge water bills and can only water our lawns with the foul tasting liquid that we get for our money. Cape Charles needs better than this. We need to follow Exmore and look into improvement.
