CAPE CHARLES, Va. — A golf cart accident on May 31 at the intersection of Old Cape Charles Road and Bayshore Lane resulted in injuries and an arrest, authorities said.
The incident occurred when the golf cart, traveling west on Old Cape Charles Road, attempted to make a left turn at a high rate of speed and overturned. Four people were aboard the cart at the time of the accident.
According to officials, two passengers were ejected approximately 60 feet from the cart, as they were not wearing seatbelts. Emergency Medical Services transported these individuals to a local hospital for treatment. Their current condition has not been disclosed.
The female driver of the golf cart was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence. The names of those involved have not been released, and authorities have stated that the case remains under investigation.
Further details will be provided as the investigation progresses.

Paul Plante says
How old was the female driver of the golf cart who was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving under the influence?
Harley Clutchrider says

I seriously cannot understand WHY people will spend their money on drugs and or alcohol just to get themselves in a condition of impairment and or physically sick . If you want to feel like crap then just go out in public and get covid or the flu or a cold . Thats free .

I asked my best friend, also named Bob, in early 90’s that very same question as we headed north back from Boca Chica in the Keys with incredible HangOvers after a night to remember……
He replied ” because it’s fun”

How about getting CC po po to set up a DUI check point for golf carts. Wouldn’t that be a hoot.
And at the same time, hand out flyers about golf cart laws, regulations and safety.
Killing two birds with one stone. Yet more efficient than certified officers working radar in a 25 mph zone.
Rock on crime fighters!

My guess is that the driver was an out of town minor, around 15-16 or so. That’s why her name was not released.
Editor’s note: The Mirror tries to never release the name if possible.
Paul Plante says
The name is irrelevant, the age is a different matter.
Curious as to whether it was an irresponsible minor or irresponsible adult.
I recall from maybe two years ago some dude made the pages of the Mirror with a photo spread for flipping his golf cart by the beach I think it was, so there certainly are irresponsible adults out there driving golf carts like fools, but if it was a minor driving drunk or under the influence, then where were her parents?
Adelaide Smith says
What do you expect? Every “tourist” attraction, even the beach in all its White Claw glory, is about drinking.
Paul Plante says
Underage drinking?
Oh, right, it is America, where everything and anything goes, so why shouldn’t the kiddies get drunk along with the parents, given that is what people do when they come to “tourist” attractions, so they can be free to do all the stuff they wouldn’t do back in their home town, because down here, nobody knows who they are or where they came from, and so, can’t gossip about them as would be the case back home.
