The Cape Charles Historic District Review Board’s regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. The meeting will address a range of Certificate of Appropriateness applications.
Among the key applications on the agenda are:
- 535 Jefferson Avenue: A proposal to construct a 131.2 sq. ft. rear deck, install a 24 sq. ft. outdoor shower on the deck, and add a 144 sq. ft. paver patio with a pergola cover.
- 122 Peach Street: Plans include the removal of an existing 168.6 sq. ft. one-story addition and the construction of a new 162.6 sq. ft. two-story addition on the south side of the single-family dwelling. This addition will feature a new 21.7 sq. ft. side porch with steps, as well as the replacement of existing front porch steps and railing with historically accurate wood steps, turned wood newel posts, and pickets.
- 612 Pine Street: Proposed changes involve replacing double-hung vinyl windows with similar ones featuring muntins (grills) between the glass. Additionally, the plan includes replacing an existing wooden fence with a new wooden picket fence at the rear of the property.
- 614 Pine Street: Similar to the project at 612 Pine Street, this application seeks to replace double-hung vinyl windows with similar ones featuring muntins between the glass.
- 110 Tazewell Avenue: The proposal aims to modify previously approved front porch steps and side porch steps to include wrought iron or aluminum railing. Additionally, it seeks to extend driveway pavers to the back of the house and continue with shells to the alley.
Ahead of the meeting, city staff have been engaging with potential applicants, assisting them in understanding the process and filling out applications.
