“Librarians bolted the doors and approached the identifiable Jewish students and told them they could hide in the attic “
Jewish students at a college in New York City found themselves confined to a school library on Wednesday as a pro-Palestinian rally made its way through the building. Protesters were seen banging on the library doors while chanting ‘free, free Palestine,’ as captured in a video.
The video footage of the students inside the library quickly circulated on social media during the Wednesday afternoon.
One video showed protesters outside the library while Jewish students remained at a table, attempting to continue their studies.
On the other side of the glass, students could be seen holding up signs, expressing their opposition to Israel’s occupation of Palestine.
According to Jake Novak, the former media director at the Israeli Consulate in New York, he shared a post on the social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter), stating that several Jewish students were locked inside the school library around 5:15 p.m.
“My sources inform me that several Jewish students at Cooper Union are presently confined within the school library as a pro-Hamas rally outside of the Cooper Union building discovered that the Jewish students were in the library and decided to bring the protest indoors, barricading all exits,” he wrote. “The police were called 40 minutes ago but are hesitant to intervene. Security personnel locked the students inside due to concerns about their safety.”
He also shared a video of the Jewish students inside the library as the sound of banging from outside could be heard.
Shortly before 6 p.m., Novak provided an update, confirming that the “besieged” Jewish students had been safely escorted out of the library through tunnels.
City Councilwoman Vickie Paladino also weighed in on the video that was circulating on social media.
She commented, “No big deal, just a few Jewish students barricaded in a library while a mob attempts to breach the doors to reach them. This occurred at a prestigious university in New York City in 2023. The situation reflects the state of affairs in our progressive city.”
Obviously the university will respond by expelling every student on the other side of that wall. You clearly can’t target minority student based on race, have a violent mob intimidate them and force them to shelter in place. And obviously these student will be suing the university. Right?
