The Town of Cape Charles is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve in a part-time capacity (20-30 hours/week) to assist the Town Manager and other departments as needed, and to organize and run all Town events, including the 4th of July celebration, Grand Illumination, Easter festivities, and more.
Key Qualifications:
- Organization & Multi-tasking: Must be highly organized, able to juggle multiple responsibilities, and work collaboratively with various Town departments and civic groups.
- Customer Service: Strong customer service skills are essential, including the ability to follow through and tactfully handle customer complaints.
- Team Player: A strong work ethic and the desire to be a contributing team player are crucial.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint is required. Familiarity with Canva and Adobe is a plus.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Oversee volunteers and seasonal staff.
- Flexibility to work during Town Holidays, and to work some evening and weekend hours.
- Strong administrative skills, including well-written emails, fiscal discipline, and thorough follow-through on all assigned tasks.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry more than 20 lbs.
- Comfortable working in often unfavorable weather conditions.
- Ability to walk and climb stairs.
The candidate must have a valid Virginia Driver’s license. This is an hourly, non-exempt position with a hiring range of $17.50 to $19.50 per hour, depending on qualifications (DOQ).
