Cape Charles, Va. — After an extensive search and review of several highly qualified candidates, Marion (Dize) Sofield has been appointed as the new Town Treasurer of Cape Charles. Sofield, who brings a wealth of experience in financial management and leadership, is expected to make significant contributions to the town’s financial operations.
Sofield has previously held roles as both Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President for audited and reporting public companies, making her well-versed in the transparent and detail-oriented accounting and auditing processes that Cape Charles requires. Her background in working with local governments on successful economic development projects and her ability to build consensus will be invaluable as she leads the town’s finance department.
In her new role, Sofield will oversee all bookkeeping, budgeting, and forecasting functions, ensuring that the town’s finances are managed with precision. Additionally, she is committed to providing a first-rate customer service experience for all Cape Charles residents.
Sofield’s appointment also marks a return to her roots. Her family has deep ties to Cape Charles, with her grandfather having served as mayor during the 1930s and again in the 1950s. Sofield’s parents were also dedicated to community service in the town throughout their lives. This legacy of public service has inspired Sofield to return home and serve the citizens of Cape Charles in this critical role.
