Cheriton, Va. — Northampton County has opened the newly expanded Bayview Convenience Center, marking a major step forward in improving waste disposal and recycling services in lower Northampton County.
The facility, which now features a new entrance on South Bayside Road, replaces the former access point located on Bayview Circle. Officials said the upgrade is part of a broader effort to enhance the site’s accessibility, efficiency and environmental management.
The improvements at Bayview Convenience Center will allow the County to better serve residents by making waste disposal and recycling easier, safer, and more efficient. This project represents an important investment in the infrastructure of lower Northampton County.”
The expanded center will help reduce wait times, improve traffic flow within the site, and offer more capacity for recyclables and household waste, helping to promote greater participation in recycling initiatives across the community.

Officials are urging visitors to exercise caution while visiting the site, as construction activity will continue in the coming months. Work crews will be enlarging the stormwater retention pond located on the original portion of the facility to meet updated environmental standards.
The Bayview Convenience Center is one of several solid waste sites operated by Northampton County and plays a key role in managing residential waste, recyclables, and bulk materials. Officials said the recent upgrades are designed to support the county’s long-term goals for sustainable waste management and environmental protection.
