EASTVILLE, Va. — Northampton County has released its schedule of government meetings, public events and important election dates for July, highlighting a busy month that includes Board of Supervisors meetings, Planning Commission sessions, voter registration deadlines, youth programs and holiday-related service changes.
Residents will have several opportunities to attend public meetings throughout the month, beginning with the Electoral Board meeting at 10:30 a.m. on July 2.
The Planning Commission is scheduled to meet twice during July, with meetings at 3 p.m. on July 7 and 6 p.m. on July 21. The School Board will meet at 6 p.m. on July 9, while the Board of Supervisors is scheduled for its regular meeting at 5 p.m. on July 14 and a work session at 5 p.m. on July 28.
Other scheduled public meetings include:
- July 20: A-NPDC Board meeting, 7 p.m., Accomac
- July 21: Eastern Shore Groundwater Committee meeting, 10 a.m., Melfa
- July 28: EDA meeting, 4 p.m.
Election deadlines approaching
County officials are also reminding voters of key dates leading up to the Aug. 4, 2026, Dual Primary Election.
Important dates include:
- July 19: Sunday voter registration office hours, 11 a.m.–4 p.m.
- July 24: Last day to request a mailed absentee ballot.
- July 25: Saturday early voting, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
- July 26: Sunday early voting, 11 a.m.–4 p.m.
- July 28: Last day to register to vote before the Aug. 4 primary.
- Aug. 1: Saturday early voting, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
- Aug. 4: Election Day, with polling places open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Holiday closure and trash collection changes
Northampton County administrative offices will be closed Friday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day.
Officials said all six county waste collection centers and the landfill/transfer station will instead be open Saturday, July 4, to accommodate residents.
Youth summer camp begins
The county’s Parks & Recreation Department will launch its Youth Summer Camp beginning July 14.
The program features nine weekly sessions and costs $60 per camper, per session.
County hiring for multiple positions
Northampton County is currently accepting applications for several open positions, including:
- Jail Deputy
- Full- and part-time Communications Officers (NCSO)
- Building Inspector
- Code Compliance Officer
Board and commission vacancies
Residents interested in serving the community are encouraged to apply for a vacancy on the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board, which currently has an at-large opening.
