Northampton, VA – The Northampton Board of Supervisors has submitted an application to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) for the construction of a restricted-crossing U-turn (RCUT) intersection at the Bayview Circle/Parson’s Circle intersection on Route 13. The proposal aims to enhance safety and reduce accidents in the area.
The RCUT design, also known as a superstreet, is engineered to prevent direct crossing of Route 13 from Bayview Circle or Parson’s Circle. Instead, drivers from either circle will be required to make a right turn onto Route 13, proceed to a newly constructed crossover, and then complete a U-turn. This maneuver will allow them to continue along Lankford Highway or make a right turn onto Route 641.

Officials believe the RCUT design will significantly reduce the potential for collisions and improve overall traffic flow in the area. The project is part of a broader initiative to enhance road safety and efficiency on major highways throughout the state.
The Northampton Board of Supervisors is awaiting VDOT’s approval to proceed with the construction, which is expected to bring long-term safety benefits to the community.
Although I’ve only lived here, fairly close to Parsons Circle for 24 years, I have been “coming here” for 60, and I have never seen any large trucks pulling in or out that intersection on 13 in either ditections.
Suggestion:
Four signs saying:

As far of accidents, there are many more dangerous intersections and crossovers that need help.
I offer the suggestion that there is a profit is in this scheme
for someone.
