Meet Tony!
“OMG, it was like trying to catch a minnow with your hands!” That’s how one of our volunteers described the experience of trying to corral Tony to make sure he didn’t dash out into the hallway when someone opened the door.
Not a bad description. This little 19 lb. beagle mix is curious about everything and is an energetic, fast runner. At a year and 8 months old, he’s really a young adult rather than a puppy, but he hasn’t lost any of his puppy enthusiasm for life and exploring the world around him.
Tony should be okay in a home with children although his energy level may be a bit challenging for toddlers unless he’s under adult supervision while they play with him. But he definitely wants a home with an active family who will appreciate his joyful approach to life and provide him with plenty of play opportunities.
We also think he will be better suited to a home that doesn’t have cats or other small animals that he might overpower with his energetic romping. He’s fairly clean in his kennel, but even though he’s lived with a family before, his new family will need to be prepared to review potty training with him to ensure that there are no “accidents” indoors.
Treats are a good motivation for Tony, so with a regular schedule and some Pup-Peroni or other tasty tidbits as a reward for a job well done, helping him master the social graces he needs shouldn’t be too difficult.
The family Tony becomes a member of will become the recipients of lots of canine love and hours of fun and entertainment—for which they won’t even have to pay a monthly subscription fee.
If that’s your family, you can request an adoption application by emailing shorespca@gmail.com or stopping in at the shelter between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday to pick one up.
