This month showed just how much more we need to support our local police. While many of us are enjoying the summer, the CCPD has had to intervene in violent situations which put their own lives in danger.
There were two separate events that highlight this. According to Chief Pruitt, the first event took place on July 19. Officer Lynch responded to assist the Sheriffs office with a subject at Cherrystone Campground. During the arrest the situation turned physical, David A. Gilliam of New Jersey was charged with several offenses by the Sheriff’s office, and Cape Charles charged him with assault and batter of a police officer.
The second incident took place on July 24th. While trying to make the arrest of Frank Hughlett of Cape Charles for assaulting a family member, Hughlett then assaulted officer Spencer and attempted to disarm officer Charlton. He was charged with assault and batter of a family member, obstruction of justice, and attempt to disarm a law enforcement officer.

I wonder how many Democrats in Cape Charles want to defund the police?

An interesting and timely question.
