The Cape Charles Town Council and Planning Commissioin will hold a joint public hearing to receive to recieve input on the proposed revisions to the Comprehensive Plan. The public hearing is scheduled for December 6, 2022, at 6:00 P.M. at the town civic center, 500 Tazewell Avenue.
Once approved, this version of the Plan replace the current Comprehensive Plan, adopted in 2009 and
amended in 2016.
Staff and our consultant, Summit Design and Engineering, will make a brief presentation of the draft
document which is available for review on the Town’s website at

The Comprehensive Plan has been updated in the categories ofHousing, Economy, Transportation, Community Facilities and Services, Environment and Land Use which includes proposed revisions to the Future Land Use Map and accompanying Future Land Use categories, which will be used to make future changes to the Town’s Zoning Map.
STAFF COMMENTS:
The draft Comprehensive Plan was initially released in September 2022 and public input was solicited on
the draft document. The Town held an informational meeting and also convened 2 work sessions of the
Planning Commission & Town Council to review all comments received which were approximately 280
comments (please see “Public Input” Section pages 27-31 for additional information on public outreach).
