Ray Rosenberger Retires From ES RC&D Council After 13 Years of Service to the VA Eastern Shore Community

Melfa, Virginia – For immediate release. The Eastern Shore Resource Conservation and Development Council (ES RC&D) bids a fond farewell to Ray Rosenberger after his 13 years of service on behalf of the Northampton and Accomack communities through his volunteer service to the Council. Rosenberger’s term officially ended on Dec. 31, 2015, but joined the Council for the January 19th meeting to accept the deep appreciation and thanks of the members. Ray was presented with a commemorative plaque in recognition of his many years of service. Ray was appointed by the Accomack-Northampton Planning District Commission (A-NPDC) to the RC&D Council on March 17, 2003. Since then, in addition to being a regular Council Member, Ray has served faithfully in various positions including Secretary of the Executive Board and Finance Committee Member.

Along with his wife Nancy, Ray was always the first to show up and last to leave at any given RC&D sponsored community event to lend a hand wherever it was needed, whether to help set up, clean up, take photos, and generally led his cheer and support. The couple were regulars at many of the DEQ Roundtable rain barrel workshops which the RC&D sponsored. Over the years, Ray always had an extraordinary eye for detail such as catching typos on an Annual Report or questioning an apparent discrepancy in the finances.

The Rosenbergers make their home in the Town of Chincoteague where Ray continues in his post as Planning Commission Chairman in which he has served more than 13 years. Ray and Nancy have clearly shared a lifelong passion for community service. They both grew up in Philadelphia and met when they worked at Bell Atlantic Telephone. Ray served as Manager of Corporate Operations Staff for Pennsylvania and Delaware, and Manager of Installation and Repair Service Centers for more than 40 years. He retired prior to Verizon’s takeover of Bell Atlantic. The couple was active in community service throughout those years in Pennsylvania, especially in food pantries and delivery of food to homebound people in underserved communities.
The RC&D Council Members will miss the regular support of the Rosenbergers but sincerely hope to see them out and about on the Shore.
