NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Riverside Health has ended its relationship with a contracted anesthesiology provider after learning of a social media post supporting violence against a public figure, the hospital system announced Friday.
According to Riverside, the comments were made early Thursday by an individual contracted through North American Partners in Anesthesia (NAPA), the private group that supplies anesthesiology services to the health system.
Hospital officials said they moved quickly to address the matter, and by mid-morning Sept. 11, the person’s contract with NAPA was terminated.
“The individual is no longer affiliated with Riverside Health,” the hospital said in a statement.
Riverside did not identify the person or the public figure referenced in the social media post.
From Riverside, “Early yesterday morning, Thursday, September 11, Riverside became aware of a social media post made by an individual contracted through North American Partners in Anesthesia (NAPA), our anesthesiology group, that included highly inappropriate comments supporting violence against a public figure. We took prompt action and by mid-morning on September 11, her contract through NAPA was terminated. The individual is no longer affiliated with Riverside Health.”
