Science and Philosophy Seminar of the Eastern Shore of Virginia has scheduled a seminar, “Island on the Rift: Geology, Culture, and Biology of Iceland.” The free 90-minute seminar will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, December 16 in the Lecture Hall of the Eastern Shore Community College, 29300 Lankford Hwy, Melfa, VA 23410.
Ruta Vaskys and Martin Freed will lead the Seminar and discuss how this island, settled by Vikings in the 9th Century, is different from just about any other place in the world.
Vaskys and Freed have had many occupations over the course of their lives, working as trappers, writers, prospectors, entrepreneurs, and in academia.
These seminars are occasionally rescheduled on short notice. Prospective attendees are urged to check the Seminar’s website (www.SciPhi.org) shortly before a scheduled date.
