SPCA Eastern Shore partners with Northern Accomack Community Cats

April 2, 2023 by Wayne Creed 2 Comments

The SPCA Eastern Shore is very happy to partner with the fine folks from ‘Northern Accomack Community Cats”. Following is a very nice letter of endorsement from them. May their dedication and kindness emulate up & down the Eastern Shore! Learn more about them here https://www.accomackcats.org or on their FB page.

From: ‘Northern Accomack Community Cats’

And now for a little bit of news that’s been in the works since November, when a very nice lady came up to our table at the holiday market and asked if she could speak with us about a proposal from the SPCA Eastern Shore Virginia: would we be willing to let them sponsor four Neuter Scooter trips for us?

There was no way we were going to pass up an opportunity to work with another group so dedicated to spay/neuter and animal welfare, so of course we said, “YES, PLEASE!”

The hope is that, by having us run four sponsored trips up in our usual manner, we’ll be able to take some pressure off the SPCA’s Neuter Scooter dates, freeing up spots for owned animals to get their surgeries.

These sponsored Scooter dates will work exactly the same as our ordinary Scooter dates:

–COMMUNITY CATS ONLY! Our group does not do owned/inside kitties.

–we will pre-schedule with clients who are registered with us

–cats will be trapped and held overnight the day before Scooter

–the cost is $25 per cat for spay/neuter, rabies vax, and ear-tip

–ear-tips are MANDATORY

…with one difference:

–the SPCA asked us if we would consider holding two of the Scooters a little further south than we usually operate

Details on the second Northern date and the two “SOUTHERN Accomack Community Cats” Scooter dates will be forthcoming, and we will have a special colony registration set-up for the Southern dates to help ensure we can prioritize folks who ordinarily cannot access our services.

In the meantime, our first SPCA partnership date will be 28th March 2023, weather willing.

We’d like to extend our incredible thanks to the SPCA Eastern Shore for facilitating this partnership. To check out their work here on the Shore, pop over to their Facebook page or visit their website at https://www.shorespca.com/.
