The Cape Charles Town Council will hold a special meeting Thursday September 3rd to move forward with the removal of the Oyster Farm sign from town property.
In March of 2016, the Oyster Farm received permission from the town to erect the wooden sign at Fig and Randolph. This month, at a Town Council work session, during the discussion regarding interim wayfinding signs,
the issue of private businesses placing their own signs on the corner of Fig Street and Randolph Avenue was brought up by a Council member, asking how the Town could permit one business could put up a sign at the intersection and adding that other businesses would like to have their signs at the location as well.
At the work session, Town Council will also receive public comment
regarding amendments to the Ordinance creating the Joint Industrial Development Authority of Northampton County and Towns which was originally adopted in February 2000. The proposed amendments will change the name of the authority to the Economic Development Authority of Northampton County and Towns.

Who are these “other businesses” that supposedly want to post signs at Fig and Randolph? What are their proposals? When and to whom were they submitted? What standard (in the size, design, placement and content) has been established? Can we, the lowly citizenry, have access to any of the foregoing? Do you really need a “special meeting” to take care of what would be routine business had there been the necessary standards for the town already in place?

And the sign said “Long-haired freaky people need not apply”
So I tucked my hair up under my hat and I went in to ask him why
He said “You look like a fine upstanding young man, I think you’ll do”
So I took off my hat, I said “Imagine that. Huh! Me workin’ for you!”
Whoa-oh-oh
Sign, sign, everywhere a sign
Blockin’ out the scenery, breakin’ my mind
Do this, don’t do that, can’t you read the sign?
And the sign said anybody caught trespassin’ would be shot on sight
So I jumped on the fence and-a yelled at the house
“Hey! What gives you the right?”
“To put up a fence to keep me out or to keep mother nature in”
“If God was here he’d tell you to your face, man, you’re some kinda sinner”
Sign, sign, everywhere a sign
Blockin’ out the scenery, breakin’ my mind…

There will be plenty of Sloppy Joe and KamalToe 2020 signs. I think the most disgusting sight that I have ever seen were all the hillary signs up and down Rt 13, so many small minds along that road to allow it.
