Major League Baseball announced Friday that it will no longer hold the 2021 All-Star Game in Atlanta, citing Georgia’s recently passed law that implemented voting reforms.
Congrats to Major League Baseball for snatching vital income from the thousands of black-owned businesses in the Atlanta area. Such justice warriors. Question: do I still need to present an ID to pick up my tickets at Will Call? Who appointed these corporate hypocrites, liberal pigs, to be the arbiters of free elections?
But reporters say the league’s bold move might put them in a “tricky” spot, given that other states — including the last host of the All-Star Game — have greater voting restrictions than Georgia.
So far, the fairest negative assessment of the Georgia law has been “there’s nothing actually wrong with it but optics” which is a far cry from “Jim Crow on steroids.” Anyone using the Jim Crow rhetoric is a partisan who doesn’t actually care about voting rights. Can anyone coherently explain how any voting was restricted in Georgia, or is this just another moral panic? When you think about it, MLB is BLM spelled backwards.
Is there any concept more racist than Democrats and the corporate media incessantly pushing the narrative that blacks are too dumb and poor to obtain driver’s licenses, and if they happen to get one, are too stupid to read the driver’s license number? We would beg to differ.
BREAKING: Voting isn’t hard.
Gov. Brian Kemp (R) issued a statement reacting to the news, saying in part that “Georgians — and all Americans — should fully understand what the MLB’s knee-jerk decision means: cancel culture and woke political activists are coming for every aspect of your life, sports included.” He added, “This attack on our state is the direct result of repeated lies from Joe Biden and Stacey Abrams about a bill that expands access to the ballot box and ensures the integrity of our elections. I will not back down. Georgians will not be bullied. We will continue to stand up for secure, accessible, fair elections.”
MLB Commissioner Robert Manfred Jr. issued a statement saying that after consulting with “Clubs, former and current players, the Players Association, and The Players Alliance,” he has “decided that the best way to demonstrate our values as a sport is by relocating this year’s All-Star Game and MLB Draft.”
Manfred went on to say that the MLB “fundamentally supports voting rights for all Americans and opposes restrictions at the ballot box,” adding that “fair access to voting continues to have our game’s unwavering support.”
He concluded by saying that the league is “finalizing a new host city and details about these events will be announced shortly.”
Question: Can you get a COVID vaccine without an ID?
The Georgia GOP should be cutting and airing ads *now* tying Democrats’ lies to the boycotts and harm inflicted on their state, the harm inflicted upon Black workers and businesses. Start with Biden’s Four Pinocchio lies and the ESPN interview calling for the MLB move, which immediately happened. Make an aggressive, proactive case. Now.
