If so, the Town of Cape Charles has just the job for you. Cape Charles is seeking individuals for Summer Beach Attendants/Litter Patrol.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to;
- Ensuring beachgoers follow beach rules & regulations
- Act as a concierge to tourists, i.e., places to eat, etc.
- Do routine litter patrol shifts (Mason Ave & Bay Ave)
- Assist with Town events, like July 4th, as needed
To be successful in this job you must have an annoying personality, be punctual, be able to work weekends and holidays, have reliable transportation, enjoy being outdoors, often on hot days, and be able to work independently.
Town Note: Our beach attendants must be outgoing and courteous (code for obnoxious and annoying).
Perks: Beach attendants have Police and Public Works back up, however, the town says they are not responsible for any life guarding duties nor are they to intervene in any confrontational dialogue with beachgoers (not sure whether that means the cops or beach patrol).
Bummer: you are not allowed to use a taser on unruly tourists.

How about the police DOING THEIR JOB!
Maybe, just maybe the town can get their glory hounds to do THEIR job! How about the police doing THEIR job instead of harassing law abiding citizens!
This town has to be the most stupid, non rational town in the U.S. How about cutting the town manager salary? Surely he doesn’t know what he is doing (well, maybe his does. Spend, spend, spead!) The town will NEVER make money to support the fat cats that run it. How’s that water utilities sale going? I wonder if the town wishes they had that old school back now. No, they rather build Taj Mahal.
Now, back to the beach patrol. Whoever is hired, they are going to need health insurance and hazardous pay. The beach is dirty and the wooden walkways and decks are falling apart. The town replaced a few boards but there is no sense in doing that, when the bulldozier destroy them while moving sand.
Hey maybe, the town can hire an assist town manager to do the town manages job!? Or did that happen already?
