Rules and Fines for Golf Cart Stupidity

May 22, 2022 by Wayne Creed 11 Comments

Whether golf carts should be allowed on busy, summer streets can be argued, the abundance of stupid driving cannot. Just Friday afternoon, an idiot pulled right out in front of my car without looking. He had two young children on board, and neither was buckled in.

This summer, the Cape Charles Police will be turning up the heat on GSD (Golf Cart Stupid).

If you witness GSD and do not see a police officer in the vicinity, please call dispatch at (757) 678-0458 to report the idiots.

CCPD Basic Rules for golf cart driving:

-Please do not operate a golf cart on any road with a speed limit greater than 25 mph (use designated paths in these areas).
-Golf carts are not allowed in Central Park or on ANY sidewalk.
-All basic rules of the road must be obeyed.
-Anyone who is underaged or who does not have a valid driver’s license cannot operate a golf cart.
-Golf carts are not allowed on the beach.

Fines for these violations include $100 for underaged drivers for a first offense and $250 for a second offense.

Turning up the heat?! More like turning their head the other way. The CC police only harass the local people. I know, I was one of those harass by the number #2 man in charge and the chief.
Let just see if the monthly report reflects, the term “turning up the heat” on golf cart violations.

You are correct! I had an incident with no police to be found. Called sheriff’s department. Cape Charles Police responded. Guess what I was told? To stay out of other peoples business. They turned last minute in front of me and almost got hit. But that is none of my business. What a joke! I used to have respect for all the police department, but if you live here and report “tourists” or richer people, the PD becomes nothing but a joke.

My daughter was on that golf cart – and you know me personally. We are not tourists, nor are we rich. You chased them, honking and cussing, circling them and blocking them in. They are a group of teenagers, several 18 years old with licenses, so they weren’t too young to be driving it, like you gave for the reason you chased them down. So maybe there was a driving error, but that is also still up for debate. Either way, golf cart or not, tourist or not, rich or not… you completely overreacted and antagonized a group of children. You’re lucky they didn’t take you away in handcuffs.

Actually, I was on the phone with the Sheriffs department and only stopped to take a pic as suggested. I then parked away from them. And, yes, I know you. And you should know me vetter than that.

I dont believe that the Cape Charles Police told anyone to “mind their own business” if a credible allegation of unsafe behavior was reported. I think that “credible” is the key word. From my experience, Nioaka is more than happy to spout off on issues she does not understand, or can comprehend: and can be quite nasty.
      I have had interactions
with Chief Pruitt and other officers with the Cape Charles Police department, and have found them to be very reasonable and helpful.

Umm.. yes the officer did. I had pics and he didnt want to aee them. It wasnot chief Pruitt, it was one of his minions who thinks he still works in a big city. And, you have enough to deal with in Eastville, so concern yourself with issues there. Idiot

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, if evidence is presented to law enforcement about reckless driving. It IS the officers responsibilty to look at the evidence.
Too ignore evidence about a possible traffic violation or crime SHOWS the officer has pick a side or is showing favoritism. The proper procedure, would have been to issue a summon to appear in court for Reckless Driving. And to also subpoena the witness, to that driving behavior. Let the Justice system do its work.
The officer choose to ignore the evidence and act as a judge. He is wrong in many ways.
The Cape Charles police department is a joke! My guess is that officer, was the number 2 man in charge by his behavior. The Cape Charles police department is very unorganize and unprofessional department. The only reason there is a Cape Charles PD is to met the requirments to be a separate entity from the county.
And that is MY opinion! Speaking from 28 years of law enforcement from the state of Virginia!
