From a reader – “Not one word on their website about the project timeline being extended by four years. This makes me question the management of the CBBT District and its level of transparency”.
Indeed it does.
Construction of the new tunnel at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel is now running about five years behind, according to the deputy director of the bridge-tunnel.
Work began on the project in 2017, and it was originally set to be completed last month. Then in 2020, the completion date was pushed back to 2024. The main excuse for the delay is the granite boulders that were used to build the bridge-tunnel. Permitting issues are another excuse being given.
Either way, the new tunnel’s cost is more than $750 million, which is being paid for by toll increases every five years.
Yes
And the BS Will continue just like everything today .
