CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Historic District Review Board will review several Applications for Certificates of Appropriateness during its upcoming meeting, with projects ranging from exterior renovations to new residential construction within the town’s historic district.
The board’s agenda includes seven proposals under the category of renovations, additions, and new construction. Among the applications are:
- 439 Mason Avenue – A request to replace siding, windows, trim, and fascia on a single-family home.
- 115 Unit 202 Mason Avenue – Replace windows
- 550 Madison Avenue – replace front porch wood turned columns, vinyl turned balustrades, and vinyl turned step railings with vinyl square..
- 537 Mason Avenue – A proposal to demolish the existing front porch and construct a new one on the single-family home.
- 600 Monroe Avenue – Plans to enclose the rear portico and replace the back step railing.
- 114 Fig Street – A request to screen in the existing rear deck on a single-family home.
- Tax Map #83A1-8-F – A proposal for new construction of a two-story single-family home, along with installation of a sidewalk.
Each application will be evaluated for compliance with the town’s Historic District Guidelines, which are designed to preserve the architectural integrity and character of Cape Charles’ historic neighborhoods.
The board’s review ensures that any exterior modifications or new developments are consistent with the district’s historic standards and overall aesthetic. Decisions made during the meeting will determine whether applicants can proceed with their proposed improvements or must make revisions to align with preservation requirements.
