Officials in Cape Charles are reminding residents and visitors that the town’s public fishing pier remains available for recreational fishing and crabbing throughout the season.
According to the town, the Cape Charles Fishing Pier operates under an annual fishing license purchased by the municipality, meaning individuals using the pier do not need to obtain their own Virginia saltwater fishing license.
However, visitors are still required to register with the Virginia Fisherman Identification Program, a statewide no-cost registration system managed by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Town officials said the registration process is free, quick, and easy to complete online.
The fishing pier is considered one of the town’s popular waterfront amenities, providing public access for families and visitors interested in fishing, crabbing, and enjoying the Chesapeake Bay waterfront.
