Annual membership is just $10, and classes meet Fridays at the Historic Palace Theatre
Arts Enter Cape Charles is opening its doors to students of ages 12 to 17 who want to explore the performing arts, offering classes and programs led by experienced instructors in a welcoming, supportive environment.
The club’s mission is to cultivate creativity and build community–the arts are open to everyone! The focus will be on theater games, improvisation, script reading for stage and audition, and theater diction (speech, projection, vocal clarity).
Annual dues are only $10.
Theater club classes meet Fridays at 5 p.m. at the Historic Palace Theatre, a landmark at 305 Mason Avenue that has anchored Cape Charles’ cultural life since 1996.
Why theater matters for young people
For children and teenagers, theater offers far more than a chance to perform. Stepping onstage, even in a small role, helps young people build confidence and become more comfortable speaking in front of others, a skill that carries over into classroom presentations, job interviews, and everyday life.
Theater is also a team effort. Students learn to collaborate, listen, and rely on one another as they rehearse and bring a production together. Stepping into a character’s shoes encourages empathy, helping young people understand perspectives and experiences different from their own.
Learning lines, following direction, and meeting rehearsal deadlines strengthen memory, focus, and discipline. And for many teens, a theater program provides something just as valuable: a place to belong, a creative outlet for expressing emotions, and friendships built around a shared passion.
How to join
Getting started takes two steps:
- Register. Complete the annual student registration form at zeffy.com/en-US/ticketing/student-registration-form. Families applying for financial assistance can complete the scholarship section on the same form.
- Enroll in classes. After registering, students can sign up for individual classes through the links on the Arts Enter website.
