CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Town of Cape Charles has officially closed on the sale of its former library building, which is now slated for redevelopment into a two-unit condominium, according to the latest update from the Capital Projects Manager. Work is ongoing to convert the second and third floors of the building into a residential space.
In other developments, the Town is moving forward with plans to relocate its offices to the Trinity United Methodist Church property. The Capital Projects Manager continued working with the Town attorney, representatives from Trinity UMC, and the Wesley Community Development Corporation to finalize the lease agreement. A site inspection was also conducted with the Town’s IT contractor to begin planning the layout for servers, cabling, and related infrastructure.
On the utility front, the manager reviewed and approved a contractor’s request to order pipeline materials needed to connect the KW1 and KW2 wells to the water treatment plant. The early procurement aims to avoid potential delays and cost increases tied to geopolitical instability in the Middle East.
Additionally, architectural firm HBA has submitted a proposal to create a new site plan for the future Municipal Building. The proposal includes updates to the existing design to ensure compliance with the latest building code requirements.
I’m confused about “The early procurement aims to avoid potential delays and cost increases tied to geopolitical instability in the Middle East.” – China is the source of carbon steel – NOT the Middle East. What’s the real reason?
What is the address of the former library that will be redeveloped?
