Cape Charles Historic District Review Board Meeting Scheduled for June 18, 2024
CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Historic District Review Board will hold its regular meeting on Tuesday, June 16, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. The agenda includes several Certificate of Appropriateness applications for various property modifications within the historic district. The applications are as follows:
- 118 Fig Street: Proposal to replace the existing wood porch flooring with AZEK on the two-story single-family dwelling.
- 711 Fig Street: Application to renovate the 257 sq. ft. accessory structure by replacing the existing wood door with a fiberglass door, adding one window, and repairing the existing vinyl siding.
- 301 Mason Avenue: Request to enlarge the approved signage to be placed on the front balcony of the commercial building from 2’ x 8’ to 3’ 9” x 8’ 1”.
- 212 Randolph Avenue: Proposal to replace the existing 6-lite single wood door (5’ x 8’), 1/1 side lights, and 3-lite transom with a ¾-lite/1-panel fiberglass double entry door (6’ x 7’) and single lite transom. The application also includes a request to parge one of the existing parged chimneys on the two-story single-family dwelling.
- 607 Randolph Avenue: Application for multiple modifications, including (1) construction of a rear two-story addition, (2) extension of the second-story deck along the rear, (3) replacement of the existing cement front porch flooring with wood porch flooring using the same footprint, (4) enclosure of 2’ of the left side lower deck, and (5) restoration of the shutters.
Residents and interested parties are encouraged to attend the meeting to provide input on these proposed changes to properties within the historic district.
