CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Town Council has authorized the town manager to move forward with the purchase of a new ADA-compliant restroom trailer, contingent on confirmation that the unit includes a portable holding tank.
Council approved the proposed purchase of an OAHU Series – New ADA Restroom Trailer +2 Station – 4 Season Trailer from Portable Restroom Trailers, LLC at a cost of $65,725, plus $3,440 in freight charges, for a total of $69,165.
The unit will initially be placed at the end of Peach Street, but could be moved to another location to accommodate other events.
During the discussion, council members raised concerns after reviewing the approved specifications, which list the unit as “20-foot Direct-To-Sewer.” Town Council noted that a direct sewer hookup is not currently available at the intended location.
The Town Manager said he believes the unit ordered also includes a portable tank, but acknowledged that this has not yet been confirmed by the vendor. Council voted to proceed with the purchase pending verification that the trailer is equipped with a tank suitable for use without a direct sewer connection.
Under the terms discussed, the final payment of $34,582.50 would be due within five days of completion.
The restroom trailer is intended to provide a temporary ADA-accessible facility while the town continues to evaluate long-term solutions for public restrooms in the downtown area.

Looks like a nice unit, one to be proud of.
Just wondering about the final total costs:
$69,165°° plus (???) for the multiple direct sewage hookups for other events.
In other words, an overpriced Porta Potty .
