According to the February statistics released by the Cape Charles police department, there were a total of 130 calls for service within Cape Charles. Additionally, officers responded to four calls for service outside of Cape Charles to provide assistance.
The month saw seven felony arrests and two misdemeanor arrests made by the police. Traffic enforcement was also active, resulting in 23 traffic summonses issued to violators. However, there were no reported interactions involving golf carts.
Parking enforcement recorded 14 parking tickets issued during the month. Building checks totaled 46, indicating the police department’s commitment to ensuring the safety of public and private spaces.
The Cape Charles Police Department assisted the Northampton County Sheriff’s Office twice and the Virginia State Police twice during February. Additionally, officers engaged in foot patrols for a total of 55 hours and conducted Bay Creek patrols for 23 hours.
The arrests made by the department in February encompassed a range of offenses, including maliciously shooting in a dwelling, murder (2nd degree), reckless handling of a firearm, destruction of property, possession of drug paraphernalia, and various firearm-related charges.
Beyond enforcement activities, the police chief engaged with the Rotary Club, fostering community relations. Moreover, the month saw professional development milestones as MPO Lynch and Officer Spencer completed Field Training Officer (FTO) instructor school.
