CAPE CHARLES, Va.β The Cape Charles Public Works team is ramping up preparations for the holiday season, tackling maintenance tasks and seasonal duties before the townβs annual decorations take center stage.
The team has been hard at work preparing holiday decorations for deployment while also addressing routine and event-related tasks. Ahead of this weekendβs Dock Dogs event, they conducted a thorough cleaning of the park bathrooms and assisted American Water in filling the eventβs pool.
βWeβre making sure everything is in top shape before the holiday season begins,β said the Public Works Manager, noting the removal of light pole banners throughout town for winter storage in anticipation of the upcoming holiday festivities.
In addition to event preparations, the team handled routine services this week, including:
- Collecting and recycling eight truckloads of yard debris, amounting to approximately 1,360 cubic yards of brush.
- Daily servicing of 38 municipal trash cans.
- Residential trash can maintenance, including delivering two cans and collecting three for repair or replacement.
- Wrapping up seasonal grass cutting, which will now be monitored as needed.
Vehicle maintenance is also ongoing, with the department awaiting one final part for the repair of a 2013 Ford Explorer.
With the Dock Dogs event marking the final major gathering before the townβs holiday season, the Public Works team is ensuring Cape Charles is clean, organized, and ready for its festive transformation.
