NORTHAMPTON, Va. — The Aerospace Academy of the Eastern Shore (AAES) is now accepting applications for its inaugural freshman class, offering a unique opportunity for eighth-grade students to join an innovative program focused on preparing the next generation of aerospace leaders.
The academy, dedicated to empowering at-risk and underrepresented students, aims to equip participants with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in aerospace and related industries. Its mission aligns with the GoVA Region 5 Economic Development Authority’s focus on strengthening these sectors, emphasizing innovation, research, and educational access.
Apply to the Program Here
This program is about inspiring future leaders and creating a pathway for students to shape the future of aerospace and to ensure all students, regardless of background, have the opportunity to participate and succeed.
Applicants need no prior GPA or specific coursework to be eligible. Admission to the program is determined through a lottery system, with only 50 students selected to form the first cohort. AAES encourages all interested eighth graders to apply for this transformative opportunity.

The academy promises a forward-thinking curriculum designed to foster educational innovation and drive collaborative research, with a focus on addressing real-world challenges in aerospace.
Applications are open now, with the deadline set for later this year. Parents and students seeking more information can visit the academy’s website or contact its admissions office.
