CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Town Manager has been engaged in a series of meetings and tasks this week, addressing both local business opportunities and internal town operations.
The Town Manager met with the owner of Coastal Seaplanes to discuss the potential for establishing scheduled and non-scheduled seaplane services in Cape Charles, a move that could expand transportation options for the town. Additionally, discussions with representatives from Taylor Bank explored possible benefits the bank could offer to the town in terms of banking services.
In matters of administration, the Town Manager shared the town’s recruitment Request for Proposals (RFP) with Northampton County and worked with staff on alternatives for the construction site of the new municipal center. The Town Manager also reviewed resumes and applications for open positions at the harbor and for their assistant role.
On the financial side, the Town Manager sent a letter to the Virginia Department of Health (VDH) to close out the remaining balance on an existing Boating Infrastructure Grant for the harbor.
In legal matters, options for filling a vacant town council seat were discussed with the town attorney. Additionally, responses were provided to address a recent Virginia Occupational Safety and Health (VOSH) inspection that occurred last week.
The Town Manager also met with a resident to address concerns regarding a neighbor, and responded to two citizen-reported concerns as part of the town’s ongoing efforts to engage with the community.
