CAPE CHARLES, Va. — Bob Panek, the Capital Projects Manager for Cape Charles, released a mid-month update detailing the progress of several key infrastructure and development projects.
Panek reported ongoing coordination with the Town Attorney on real property transactions necessary for the KW 1&2 wells pipelines project. These transactions are part of the post-closing agreement with Virginia American Water (VAW). Legislative actions required for this project will be prepared for a public hearing and subsequent Town Council action at the September regular meeting.
In other developments, the town has received the final reimbursement from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) under the Transportation Alternatives Program grant. This reimbursement marks the completion of a significant phase in the town’s infrastructure funding efforts.
Planning has begun for Phase 3 of the Inner Harbor Bulkhead Rehabilitation project, in collaboration with Langley & McDonald. Scheduled to commence this fall, the project will be funded up to 75% by a Virginia Port Authority Aid to Local Ports grant, underscoring the town’s commitment to maintaining and improving its waterfront infrastructure.
Additionally, Panek is working with the management company and trash disposal provider to streamline the contracting and billing processes for trash services at Myrtle Landing apartments, aiming to enhance efficiency and service delivery for residents.
