Over the past few months, rumors and dreams of a brew pub/brewing company have come and gone. But that is about to change, as Cape Charles Brewing Company is ready to begin operations at the old Reliable Hardware location. According to Rachel Marshall, the idea, “Started with a conversation. A loud, clamorous conversation- all while gathered around the Marshall family matriarch’s kitchen; snacking and enjoying each other’s company.”
That conversation led to the creation of the Cape Charles Brewing Company.
This is not a new endeavor for the Marshall family. The Eastern Shore has been home to many family members including those that started Delisheries, a cookie mix business. “We’ve always felt the Shore offers a warmth and quality of life not found elsewhere. The Eastern Shore is our gathering place-it is home. Cape Charles Brewing Company plans to give locals and visitors alike, the opportunity to eat, drink, and be merry- the same way our family feels when laughing and conversing in our kitchen,” Marshall said.

Cape Charles Brewing plans to be a unique destination that compliments the Eastern Shore, but more specifically Cape Charles. “It will be a place for family and friends to gather and enjoy fresh craft beers and a delicious meal with Farm/Sea to Table dining. Our main building will host a tasting room, brewpub, and daily tours of the brewing facility. Our brew master has over 20 years’ experience crafting artisanal beers and is moving here from Colorado. He has received numerous medals on his recipes and has been featured in various media markets including the Washington Post and DC Foodies. Here he will be able to utilize his expertise creating beers from hops grown locally,” Marshall said.
Marshall also notes that there will be plenty of room, “outside with fun stuff to do whether it’s hanging by the fire pit or playing corn hole, bocce ball, shuffleboard, etc.” There are eventual plans for a live music and special events building that will expand the fun. According to Rachel Marshall, “We believe a high tide floats all ships, and intend to work collaboratively with local businesses to ensure that ALL of our ships float.”

Very much looking forward to this!!
Can’t wait!
Love all of the Marshall family! I know this venture will be an asset to Cape Charles! Deborah Marshall and her family are just good people!!!
Awesome news!
Deborah and family, good luck on your new venture!
So exciting!
Great for the eastern shore. A opportunity to more jobs.
Awesome, can’t wait!
Looking forward to a Shore Lager.
Bring it on!
Exciting news! One important question though, what is their water source to make the beer?
They will have to “pretreat” the water no matter what.
When is it opening? Exciting CC news! Thanks
Beautiful!!!
Looks like the ladies like a good brew.
