VDOT announced at Tuesday’s Board of Supervisor’s meeting that Cape Charles will be getting a traffic light at the Food Lion intersection. The safety of that entrance has been the subject of safety concerns for many years.
Former Supervisor Granville Hogg has been working this issue for over ten years.
The project will start during the summer of 2020 and will cost $1.9 million.
Other road improvements will be included in the project. Longer turn lanes and rumble strips will be installed. A signal needs analysis last fall determined that a traffic signal would make the intersection safer.
The project is estimated to be completed in the spring of 2021.

So here’s the formula.Step 1)….have your county supervisor plead for highway improvements for 10 years.
Step 2)……have him retire but continue the fight.
Step 3)…..Have the governor elected from your local area.
Step 4)……..have the retired Supervisor hold a Fed Ex truck hostage to get more attention.
Step 5)……have someone find old photos of the governor hanging around with his buddies in White sheets and blackface. BINGO !!! Two months later we’re gonna fix the intersection. Politics is a weird business these days, and the politics of VDOT appears to be following right along ? Who says the Eastern Shore isn’t in touch with the real world ? HA !
