  1. I actually remember reading about Buck Rogers using the world-wide web to communicate across time and space when I was young, and I also recall Dick Tracy using the web with his wrist communicator back in the 1950s so it sure is a lot older than 30 years.

    Who can forget Buck Rogers operating the controls of a remotely piloted “air ball,” and that was from Amazing Stories in March 1929.

    I think that is where Al Gore took his ideas from when he set about to invent the internet in our times, but since he was just re-creating it, he really does not deserve credit for inventing it, which is just my opinion, of course.

    And the one important thing to an American citizen without financial means or political clout the article does not mention is the VOICE the internet gives us through venues like the Cape Charles Mirror to speak truth to power and to counter the bull**** being fed to us on a daily basis by these hack politicians in Washington, D.C. and their media lackeys such as the compliant Washington Post gossip sheet.
