Occasionally, the Mirror gets the perfect, refined idea nestled gently into the fabric of the Eastern Shore. Dr. Thom Giese, a Cape Charles resident and a brilliant economic mind posits the idea of Cape Charles hosting an annual college football championship held right here at the Northampton High School Stadium.
Excitement is high across America as the 2021 College Football Playoff is set for action–rivalries will be on tap and great teams will be battling it out on the gridiron.
Our game will be a bit different.
The game will be called the Annual (Sponsor’s name) Eastern Shore Crab Bowl, and it will feature the two worst NCAA sanctioned football programs. While there are always many teams to choose from, picking the two worst could be a challenge.
If we had to choose, this year’s match-up would have to be the Arizona Wildcats who, until last week, were riding high on a 20-game losing streak, against the juggernaut UMASS Minutemen, who boast a putrid 1-11 record.
A matchup of the two worst teams would be high drama, kind of the Darwin Awards of College Football.
Time for sponsors to step up…Let’s do this!

C’mon man, afterall, it is the right thing to do!
