From the mouth of the Susquehanna to the Virginia Capes, the Chesapeake Bay is home to one of the most celebrated fish on the East Coast: the striped bass, known to everyone around here as the rockfish. The Bay is the primary spawning ground for most of the Atlantic coast’s striper population, and every fall, as the water cools, these fish feed hard across the shoals, channel edges, and bridge pilings.
Whether it’s breaking fish under diving gulls, trolling umbrella rigs along the channel, or jigging structure at first light, rockfishing on the Chesapeake is a tradition that runs deep. Today on Jim Baugh Outdoors, we’re heading out on the Bay to chase rockfish. Let’s go fishing!
