We are seeking a full time Maintenance Specialist to begin immediately. This is a full-time position with generous benefits and Virginia State Retirement. Duties include, but are not limited to, performing various maintenance activities for town buildings, grounds and equipment, including sanitation, painting, mowing and minor carpentry projects. Requires heavy manual labor and operation of power tools and equipment such as tractors, chippers and backhoes. Previous maintenance experience and mechanical abilities preferred, but we will train the right person.
Must have the ability to follow written and oral direction and be able to work weekends, holidays and occasional weekends as needed. High school diploma or GED, a valid VA Driver’s license and reliable transportation required. Applicant must pass a pre-employment drug screening, be physically fit and capable of lifting up to 50 pounds regularly. Salary is depending on experience and qualifications. This position is eligible for overtime.

Calling all Beach Bums! The Town of Cape Charles is seeking individuals for Summer Beach Attendants/Litter Patrol. If you would like to spend your summer outdoors by the Bay, then please read on:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Ensuring beachgoers follow beach rules & regulations.
• Do routine litter patrol shifts (Mason Ave & Bay Ave)
• Assist with Town events, like July 4th, as needed
To be successful in this job you must be punctual, be able to work weekends and Holidays, have reliable transportation, enjoy being outdoors, often on hot days, and be able to work independently. Our beach attendants must be outgoing and courteous!
Beach attendants have Police and Public Works backup. They are not responsible for any life-guarding duties nor are they to intervene in any confrontational dialogue with beachgoers
Approximately 20 hours a week, with a flexible schedule. $12.25 per hour.
