Defiance: Redskins choose to remain nameless

July 26, 2020 by Wayne Creed 1 Comment

Washington’s NFL team have confirmed that they will call themselves the “Washington Football Team”, effective immediately.

The name is not a final renaming or rebranding for the team, but it will be used moving forward pending adoption of a new name in the future.

The NFL franchise is in the process of retiring the Redskins name and intends to remove the name from all digital and physical space associated with the team.

Owner Daniel Snyder and the team was strong-armed and coerced into the name change by outside agitators. The choice to initially make the choice of not choosing is the equivalent of the Bronx salute to the rest of the world.

Good on ya’.

It does set a precedent. Should names and mascots be removed from all NFL teams?

Overgrown men in tights playing with balls? No Damn Thank You. I have never understood the attraction. I used to sit out gym in school. When the teacher said something to me about it, I brought in all the Presidential Physical Fitness Awards, signed by the president that had been sent to me over the previous years. They didn’t know what to do with me then and they are still scratching their heads.
