Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”–George Santayana, The Life of Reason, 1905. Its an old adage that has not worn well over the years. Having just come from the battlefields of Gettysburg, PA and seeing this I shake my head. Well over 600,000 Americans died during this “Civil war”.
Upon entering this battlefield I was reminded of a past here in America where ideals were put to the ultimate test. Different beliefs were “settled” on a battlefield and not in some boardroom somewhere. (though that was tried also). We, as Americans need to remember these things so as to NOT repeat such things.
This recent “movement” reminds me of the ongoing policies of the Middle East where all “proofs” of Christianity and Judaism are being destroyed for yet another belief system. This destruction of our past is eventually going to be our ruin.
