Meet Oreo, our pet of the week.
Hi! My name’s Oreo (guess someone was a cookie lover), but you can call me Twinkie…Charlie…Jeeves…Hey You!…whatever. The real point I want to make here is this: Just don’t call me late for dinner. I really enjoy my meals and don’t believe in leaving anything to finish up later. I guarantee that my bowl will be easy to wash after I finish.I’m a long-legged Labrador Retriever mix puppy, about 9 months old.
Right now I’m a medium-sized growing boy, but they say I’ll probably weigh over 50 lbs. when I’m fully grown. I think I’m a pretty sophisticated dresser—sort of the “black tux, white tie, and tails” type—but my personality is much more the “t-shirt, blue jeans, and sneakers” type. I love to give hugs and kisses, and I get along with everyone I’ve met so far, humans and dogs alike. I’ve heard people talk about something called “cats,” but I’ve never been around whatever that is.
I have tons of energy (although I’ve calmed down quite a bit since I first got here), so I’ll need a family who gives me lots of opportunities to romp, play, and exercise. If they have children, I bet we’d have fun doing that together. I also walk on a leash, so I hope they’ll take me for lots of walks. And if they have a big, fenced-in yard too, that would be my idea of a super place to spend time. Oh, and toys…lots of toys…ought to be available for me to enjoy.
Apparently some dogs learn to do things called “tricks.” I don’t know any yet—not even really sure exactly what they are—but if treats are involved in learning them, it sounds good to me. I’ve never been housetrained so far, and the people here say I’m pretty messy in my kennel. That sounds like it’s not a good thing, so if you adopt me, that’s definitely something you’ll have to be prepared to spend some time working on with me, but I’ll do my best to be a good student and catch on quickly.
If you want to welcome me into your family, I’ve been neutered and am up-to-date on all my shots and vaccines. The only thing left to be done is for you to put in an adoption application for me.
You can get one either by emailing shorespca@gmail.com or by picking one up at the shelter in Onley between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. So c’mon—what are you waiting for?
