Cape Charles to Hold Town Council Elections on November 5, 2024
CAPE CHARLES, Va. (AP) — The Town of Cape Charles will hold elections for three Town Council seats on November 5, 2024. Prospective candidates must complete the Certificate of Candidate Qualification – Local Offices and the Declaration of Candidacy, submitting these forms to the Northampton County Voter Registration office at 16404 Courthouse Road in Eastville by 7:00 p.m. on June 18, 2024.
Candidacy requirements and detailed instructions can be found on the Virginia Department of Elections website. The Department of Elections has published a Candidate Bulletin with step-by-step instructions for filing candidacy. Key dates for voters include:
- October 15, 2024: Deadline to register to vote or update an existing registration. Voters can register after this date through Election Day and vote using a provisional ballot.
- September 20, 2024: First day of in-person early voting at the Northampton County Voter Registration office.
- October 25, 2024: Deadline to apply for a mail-in ballot, with the request due by 5:00 p.m.
