Two Abandoned Boats at Cape Charles Yacht Center Face Possible Transfer of Ownership

CAPE CHARLES, Va. — Two boats that have been abandoned for more than 60 days at the Cape Charles Yacht Center could soon be subject to a transfer of ownership if they are not claimed and removed, according to legal notices issued by Cape Charles Marina LLC.

The vessels are located at the Cape Charles Yacht Center, 1011 Bayshore Road, where they have remained unclaimed for more than two months.

The first vessel is a 34-foot Silverton, believed to have been manufactured between 1992 and 1996. The boat is white and blue, and its hull identification number is unavailable.

The second vessel is a 38-foot Deltaville Deadrise, a traditional Chesapeake Bay-style workboat. The vessel is white, and its year of manufacture and hull identification number are unknown.

Under Section 29.1-733.25 of the Code of Virginia, the marina has issued public notices regarding the abandoned watercraft. If the boats are not claimed and removed within 30 days of the first publication of the notices, an application for watercraft registration and title will be submitted in accordance with Virginia law.

The notices provide an opportunity for the owners or other parties with a legal interest in the vessels to come forward before the marina proceeds with the title application process.
