On May 5, 2020, the Town of Cape Charles will hold elections for three Town Council seats. To declare your candidacy, you must complete the Certificate of Candidate Qualification – Local Offices, Declaration of Candidacy and submit them to the Northampton County Registrar’s office located at 16404 Courthouse Road in Eastville by 7:00 p.m. on March 3, 2020.
Candidacy Requirements for individuals seeking to run for office may be found at the Virginia Department of Elections website. Step-by-step instructions and the applicable forms can be found on this website. The Department of Elections has also published a Candidate bulletin entitled How to Run for Local Office. You can also contact the Registrar’s office at 757-678-0480.
The deadline to register to vote or update an existing registration is Monday, April 13, 2020 and the deadline to request an absentee ballot to be mailed to you is Tuesday, April 28, 2020. Your request must be received by your Registrar by 5:00 p.m.
