CAPE CHARLES, Va. — The Cape Charles Historic District Review Board will consider several applications for Certificates of Appropriateness at its next regular meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2025.
The agenda includes projects ranging from porch repairs and roofing replacements to a proposal for new home construction within the town’s historic district.
At 108 Monroe Avenue, Elizabeth and James Sutphen are seeking approval to replace the front and back wood flooring on their home with TimberTech composite decking.
Another Monroe Avenue request, at 552, comes from Edmund Pickup and Lynda Whitehead, represented by Jesse Philpot of Philpot Construction LLC, to replace an existing flat lock tin roof with architectural shingles.
On Washington Avenue, Benjamin and Charlotte Whitney are asking to enlarge their attic window and add a side golf cart driveway at 216. At a nearby lot, tax map #83A1-1-20, Richard Sasso and Maria Aillon, represented by Altruistic Design, are requesting approval for construction of a new two-story home, an accessory structure, and several features including a driveway, patio, enclosed outdoor shower, and fence.
At 116 Pine Street, Martine Richardson, through Legacy Holds II LLC, has submitted a more extensive proposal. The plan includes reopening an enclosed front porch, replacing the roof, repairing and reinstalling doors, repairing or sealing wood siding, refinishing existing windows, and building a second-floor rear deck.
The meeting is open to the public and will take place at Town Hall.
