I think the kindergarten teacher is by far the most important. She, and she should be a she, should be a loving motherly type who plays the piano and who gets the children to love her and love school AND TO LOVE LEARNING!
It really is not the school or the teacher who matters as much as how much the kid himself puts into learning. From K to 8 I went to a large city school with an auditorium, gym and wood shop. No cafeteria. We went home for lunch. No buses. We walked. After New Year’s in 8th grade I went to a 2 room country school in Ca and my teacher was the principal and taught grades 5, 6, 7 and 8. The other teacher in the other room had grades 1 through 4. No gym. No auditorium. No buses. We walked on the shoulder of Hy 99. We had a modern lavatory but it was in a separate little building. 9th grade was in a huge campus type H S with going from building to building and it was like a college with a dean of boys and a dean of girls, grass and trees and two of us ate sandwiches under a nice tree at noon. Grades 10 to 12 in an old fashioned H S in NJ so overcrowded we had half days but, know what? We who wanted to learn did and they who didn’t care didn’t learn.
One of my former students is a NJ state senator, another stat assemblywoman (delegate). While those two were learning a kid sitting next to one of them may have learned absolutely nothing, may have failed my course.
One of the smartest men I have ever known never went to school a day in his life. He was the chief electrician in a shipyard in Ca building large floating dry docks. He was an orphan and went to the library and taught himself to read, write and do arithmetic. He became a stone mason up in the foothills and to obtain stones learned to do blasting. He worked on his car, war years, and got far better gas mileage, made a freeze for storing food and made an electric lawn mower. After the shipyard closed he went back to the foothills, Murpheys, Ca, built a motel and had many Hollywood celebs stay at his motel.
One of the smartest men I know on the Shore quit school in 7th grade, either run away to reform school and served in the Navy during the war, worked hard after the war, saved and invested and had with his brothers a great business where all of them are very well off and know finance better than Greenspan!
Despair
Not only we have no hope, we are also in despair. Most people believe their children will be worse off than they are. Most believe the country is out of control, too much government, and that our voices are not heard. I email you gentlemen because I can’t Letters are a waste of time and postage trying to get through to Warner, Kaine and Rigell; their web pages are set up so you can’t talk about a topic of your choosing. Instead they give you a drop down of their choices. You need to answer a lot of questions to get started, and what it really is, they just don’t want you to bother them.
Representative Peter King (R, NY) has an email address where you can get on with it without the hassle. Of course, I watched the Democrat/Socialist and he’s right on. Free everything! Everything is a RIGHT; college, health care, housing, food, EVERYTHING, and if you do lose your mind and go out and look for work then a minimum of $15 an hour. Why would anyone even need money? Oh, I forgot. Drugs and booze!
Of course this is how Democrats (Obama, etc) win elections. They use my money to buy votes and also enact laws permitting all the immorality any pervert would desire.

It happened again. Another illegal “invader”, a felon with several crimes, released to roam the streets and a lady, a veteran, is murdered. What the hell is wrong with the people in Washington? Now Obama wants to take away gun rights from certain people on Social Security. Things are so obvious and Washington and Richmond, etc. just don’t get it. Any illegal “invader” including of course deportees, who is arrested for committing a crime should be held in a jail until his trial and if guilty should serve his time in prison and then be immediately deported. If he is not guilty then he should be immediately deported. When deported it should be made very clear that should he dare to defy the laws of the United States again he will serve a mandatory 5 years under Kate’s law and it will be in a prison of the type in his home country. Have you ever noticed, I have, that very often wonderful people are murdered or maimed by the absolute scum of the earth? A person who has never done a thing for society, often a “career” criminal commits an outrageous crime such as two convicted felons who broke into a home on Long Island, held the father and his two daughters hostage while the one criminal took the mother to her bank where she alerted the police. The criminal returned to the home and the three women were murdered as the father, a doctor, escaped.
The young girls had great promise and the family was outstanding, destroyed by two men who never should have been turned loose on society. As the felons left the home they set it on fire. When the police were informed of the situation by the teller at the bank the police set up road blocks instead of going to the home and rescuing the people.
Of course NY has very strict gun laws where good citizens are either denied the right to own a gun or put on hold for a long period and are defenseless. In places where the gun laws are the most restrictive they have the most violent crime and the criminals have guns.
I have sent a small contribution to Dr Carson’s campaign and may send some more. I especially like Carley also and most people like The Donald’s putting his finger on illegals and the deplorable way we treat our veterans but his personality is not presidential or even civil. Of the 17 Republicans there are at least 13 who would be excellent. On the progressive side I see just another term for Obama which has been a disaster unless you have received his “gifts” which has cost most middle class a ton of money. “You can keep your insurance”, Obama is a LIAR and my one son no longer has health insurance.
The doctor & his family lived in Ct & not on Long Island. The Ct Supreme Court just declared that the death sentence is Unconstitutional & so the the two scum who raped the mother & tortured the 3 women they murdered will now escape the death penalty! The father & husband is of course again devastated. Ct is another anti-gun state where the felons have guns while the good people are defenseless. I was one of four sponsors of the gun club in my H S & coached the rifle team which was affiliated with the Department of Civilian Marksmanship of the U S Army. The school was NOT a gun free zone & we NEVER had a problem!
I have sent another small donation to Dr Carson because he has an outstanding brain and will study and listen to competent advice before he takes action & when he does it will be in the style of Reagan with tact & diplomacy and will be unifying. He was at the border with Mexico in Arizona the other day spending the entire day with their sheriff and seeing & hearing the problem 1st hand. They flew along the border in a helicopter and the caves up in the mountains were pointed out; caves where cartel observers have been for years directing smugglers across the border & into the United States with drugs & illegals. Some caves are only 30 miles from Phoenix! Carson sees that this is a war &.that the Army should be involved and that these out posts need to be removed. He suggested rocket fire into the caves & I know we have mountain troops (10th Mt Div) that can go up those mountains & clean them out or fire 106 mm recoiless rifle rounds at the caves. This is ABSURD that our president has tolerated this or so many other outrageous violations of U S law.
I send my comments to Sen Lewis & Del Bloxom because Ireally have no representation in the congress with Warner, Kaine & Rigell & in fact no representation in Accomack with Donald Hart.
Trump is on the same page as many of us but sometimes the treatment is worse than the disease. Many who are experts in Constitutional law say “anchor babies” are here to stay and many familiar with deportation say the cost to deport vast numbers would run near a trillion dollars. Aliens & illegal aliens are of 3 types. One wants to work, support their family, educate their kids, have a better life, move up to the middle class through hard wok & hopes to someday become citizens & to tell the truth would make excellent citizens, many better than some native born. The 2nd type are here to “retire”. To get all they can get for free. They should be sent home PDQ! The 3rd type are criminals & they should be arrested & never allowed to walk the streets of our country ever again. Held in a jail pending trial, if guilty serve their sentence & IMMEDIATELY be deported & be severely dealt with should they dare to return.
I think most of us are fed up with the elite, the establishment and would be happy with Trump, Carson or Firorna. There are others among the 17 who are very good and who are not in tight with the ruling body.
