  1. For sure….what is so bad is that there are decent people that a short rental is totally needed. Of course, we do have the ones that come in and can destroy a home and a neighborhood like it is their job. It is scary and sad. You ate worried about leaving your home or even go outside.

  2. The short term rentals are what revived Cape Charles from near death. So maybe don’t villify it so fast…

    1. We live in the Marina Village in Cape Charles. Many of the homes in our neighborhood are short term rentals. It has never been a problem for us. We like the increase in activity and enjoy meeting the visitors. It is up to the management company to sufficiently screen the applicants and make sure that they are legit and here for the proper reasons.

  3. In the early 2000s, Cape Charles was booming, with creative types renovating homes and creating a close-knit community with locals. You knew everyone attending town events (some of you remember the Renovators Ball) and almost everyone on the beach.

There is barely any sense of community anymore today. Sure, the town is good for peddlers and those looking for cheap weekly rentals are happy. Most of the character of the town has disappeared as Cape Charles sells itself by the week. The town has lost most of its character and its sophisticated charm.
