About the Play
“Send Me No Flowers” tells the story of George Kimball, a hypochondriac who mistakenly believes he’s dying after overhearing his doctor discussing another patient. In a comic twist of misguided devotion, George decides to find a suitable replacement husband for his wife Judy before he “passes away.” What follows is a hilarious series of misunderstandings, mistaken identities, and marital mix-ups that has delighted audiences since its Broadway debut in 1960.
The play, which inspired the 1964 film starring Rock Hudson, Doris Day, and Tony Randall, remains a favorite among community theaters for its witty dialogue and timeless humor about marriage, mortality, and miscommunication.
Local Production
Arts Enter Cape Charles continues its tradition of bringing quality theatrical entertainment to the Eastern Shore with this production. The intimate setting of the Historic Palace Theatre, established in 1942, provides the perfect venue for this domestic comedy that explores how a simple misunderstanding can spiral into matrimonial chaos.
