  1. When I think of what America has become in this time of Joe Biden, and “woke” and “equity” and “progressivism,” the term “a sodden ******* mess” leaps rapidly to mind as is captured in the Fox News story titled “Giant grocery chain fighting to keep stores open as theft, violence has ‘increased exponentially:’ Report” by Kristine Parks on 30 May 2023, to wit:

One grocery chain is fighting hard to keep stores open despite rampant shoplifting and an uptick in violence forcing many retailers to leave major cities across the country.

Giant Food, which operates 165 supermarkets in D.C., Maryland, Virginia and Delaware, has taken multiple measures to combat theft and keep stores safe, according to a report in The Washington Post.

That includes limiting store entrances; hiring security guards; restricting the number of items at self-checkout stands; putting less high-value items on shelves; and securing razor blades in containers that make noise if opened.

Company president Ira Kress said he’s seen theft rise at least “tenfold in the last five years” and violence increase “exponentially.”

He hopes these measures will help keep stores open, even if they inconvenience shoppers.

“The alternative is worse for customers,” he told the Post.

“The last thing I want to do is close stores.”

“But I’ve got to be able to run them safely and profitably.”

Several large retailers like Walgreens, Nordstrom and Whole Foods have had to close stores in cities due to increased shoplifting and safety concerns.

Fears of violent reactions from shoplifters has also changed some companies policies over the years.

“We used to chase shoplifters,” Kress said.

“And you’d get the product back, and nobody would ever fight you.”

“… I didn’t worry about somebody pulling a knife or gun on me [40] years ago,” he told the Post.

A former worker at the recently closed Whole Foods in Downtown San Francisco also said in the report that they had taken measures to combat shoplifting, like moving high-end merchandise to the back of the store.

However, the high-end grocery chain has temporarily closed the flagship store due to safety concerns.

Records showed over 500 emergency phone calls were made by workers at the store, who were routinely threatened with violence by vagrants.

A consumer and retailer industry expert said that retailers will continue to leave cities as it has become difficult for them to maintain a profit with organized retail crime and theft at an all-time high.

“We’re seeing the highest level of organized retail crime and theft ever,” Lakshman Lakshmanan, senior director in Alvarez & Marsal’s consumer and retail group said in the Post report.

The former Whole Foods employee said the store faced theft “daily” and employees were forbidden from confronting or attempting to stop shoplifters.

Other retailers have similar policies in place, due to fears the employee might be harmed or killed in an altercation with a shoplifter.

In Atlanta, Georgia, two LuLuLemon employees were fired by the company after they filmed shoplifters brazenly stealing merchandise.

Giant’s president said it’s “embarrassing” when politicians attack retailers for shutting stores due to these challenges.

“It’s laughable for any of our politicians — and I’ve offered to meet and talk with any of them — to be ignorant to what’s going on in their communities, in their jurisdictions, with their constituents,” Kress said in the report.

“And for politicians to blame businesses … for leaving is embarrassing.”

And in the meantime, we have “PROGRESSIVE” DA’s like Alvin Bragg in NYC vowing not to prosecute those same crimes, as was the case with DISGRACED BIDEN U.S. ATTORNEY Rachael Rollins, as we see in the Washington Examiner story “A corrupt ‘progressive reformer’ goes down in flames” by Byron York on 31 May 2023, to wit:

Back in 2021, President Joe Biden fought hard to win Senate confirmation for Rachael Rollins to become the U.S. attorney in Massachusetts.

Rollins was the district attorney of Suffolk County, which includes Boston, and she had become notorious by pledging not to prosecute many crimes.

Early in her term, she published the “Rollins Memo” that listed 15 crimes in which the “default is to decline prosecuting” — that is, in which her office would not allow its attorneys to prosecute unless a supervisor gave special permission.

Here is the list: 1) Trespassing, 2) shoplifting, 3) larceny under $250, 4) disorderly conduct, 5) disturbing the peace, 6) receiving stolen property, 7) minor driving offenses, including operating with a suspended or revoked license, 8) breaking and entering into vacant property, 9) wanton or malicious destruction of property, 10) threats excluding domestic violence, 11) minors in possession of alcohol, 12) drug possession, 13) drug possession with intent to distribute, 14) resisting arrest when the only charge is resisting arrest, and 15) resisting arrest if other charges are on the list of nonprosecutable offenses.

It was a recipe for urban disorder, all done in the name of criminal justice reform and addressing “structural racism” in the criminal justice system.

  2. CCM: The Russia/Putin narrative is not only old (tired and unconvincing) it has become truly pathetic. An empty vessel – exposed – going nowhere. The house of cards is crumbling. This means the false narratives are coming apart and they cannot stop it. Which means they are losing control – ie: losing. And they know it.

And speaking of a HOUSE OF CARDS crumbling, according to the Reuters article titled “US had intelligence of Ukrainian plan to attack Nord Stream project – Washington Post” on June 6, 2023, it was Joe Biden’s puppet state of Ukraine that is responsible for blowing up the Nordstream pipelines, and it looks very much like Joe is trying to keep that all hushed up, which is so Joe, to wit:

WASHINGTON, June 6 (Reuters) – The United States learned of a Ukrainian plan to attack the Nord Stream natural gas pipelines three months before they were damaged last September by underwater explosions, The Washington Post reported on Tuesday, citing leaked information posted online.

    end quote

One of course has to wonder as to the degree of planning provided by the United States for that operation by the Biden administration, which takes us back to Reuters, to wit:

The CIA learned last June, through a European spy agency, that a six-person team of Ukrainian special operations forces intended to blow up the Russia-to-Germany project, the newspaper reported.

The intelligence reporting was shared online on Discord, purportedly by Air National Guard member Jack Teixeira, who was arrested in April and charged in relation to the leak of sensitive U.S. documents.

The intelligence report was based on information provided by a person in Ukraine, the Washington Post said, adding the CIA shared it with Germany and other European countries in June 2022.

The Post said officials in multiple countries had confirmed that the intelligence summary posted on Discord accurately stated what the European service told the CIA.

    end quotes

And here, of course, we have Biden mouthpiece Rear Admiral John “Jack” Kirby coming in to provide damage control, to wit:

White House spokesperson John Kirby said on Monday that investigations into the Nord Stream attack were active.

“The last thing that we’re going to want to do from this podium is get ahead of those investigations,” Kirby said when asked about The Post’s reporting on the matter.

    end quotes

    Yeah, right, Jackie boy!

(Would anybody out there buy a used car from John Kirby, I wonder?)

Going back to Reuters, it continues as follows:

The Post said it agreed to withhold the name of the European intelligence agency as well as some aspects of the suspected plan at the request of government officials, citing risks to sources and operations.

The CIA did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Several underwater explosions ruptured the Nord Stream 1 and the newly built Nord Stream 2 pipelines that link Russia and Germany across the Baltic Sea in September 2022.

The blasts occurred in the economic zones of Sweden and Denmark.

Both countries said the explosions were deliberate, but have yet to determine who was responsible.

Those countries and Germany are investigating.

Washington and NATO called the incident “an act of sabotage.”

Moscow blamed the West, accusing investigators of dragging their feet and trying to conceal who was behind the attack.

    end quotes

And I would have to say that Russia is right on the money with that statement, as who might ultimately be behind the attack is Joe Biden himself!

  3. I do believe he was looking ahead in time and seeing Joe Biden coming along in our time:

    Agrippa XV

    January 29, 1788

    To the Massachusetts Convention.

Let us not flatter ourselves that we shall always have good men to govern us.

While they fancy themselves the vicegerants of God, they will resemble him only in power, but will always depart from his wisdom and goodness.

  4. For those unfamiliar with the term vicegerent, a word that has dropped out of our much abbreviated language in America today that is becoming a pidgin language, thanks to mindless TWEETS on mindless TWITTER, in the case of Joe Biden, it means a person regarded as an earthly representative of God or a god, which is how Joe and the Democrats view Joe, with his “soul of America” horse**** he keeps spewing.

  5. “The same organization sends hundreds of people physically into stores with a tablet to manually input prices of consumer goods to attempt to calculate inflation.”

Most people have forgotten what inflation actually is. Inflation comes from the phrase “to inflate the supply of money.” Creating massive amounts of new money (most of it is digital, not paper) is the true cause of inflation. Prices in stores reflect the impact of money creation (true inflation), but those increases are not, per se, inflation.

Also, keep in mind that the prices in stores aren’t going up. Instead, what’s really taking place is the value of your money is going down due to it being diluted by the government’s money creation, which transfers buying power from We the Sheeple to the Gubbermint. It’s an implicit tax and when we’re hit with it, most people don’t even realize it and blame the wrong causes.

    1. And in the meantime, as we see from the Reuters article titled “TREASURIES-US yields rise ahead of Fed meeting, inflation data next week” by Herbert Lash on June 9, 2023, we, those same Sheeple, are paying those rich investors who can afford Treasury debt issued by Janet “TOODLES” Yellen 5.194% interest on one-month bills, and 5.251% on three-month bills which is more generous than the 3.745% interest we are paying them on 10-year notes.

That is money out of our pockets and into theirs and we have absolutely no control over that whatsoever.

Debt service costs money and it is we, the Sheeple who get stuck with the bill!

  6. Staying with the stinking toilet bowl Joe Biden and his “WOKE” pack of Democrats are making out of America with their criminal-friendly policies, this National Review article titled “Owner of Two of San Francisco’s Largest Hotels Pulling Out of City: ‘Path to Recovery Remains Clouded’” by Ryan Mills on 6 June 2023, paints a good picture, to wit:

The owner of two of San Francisco’s largest downtown hotels is stopping mortgage payments and going into foreclosure on the properties, stating that the city faces “major challenges” and that reducing exposure to the market is in the best interest of investors.

    end quote

The major challenge, of course, stems directly from the WOKE and criminal-friendly policies of the Biden Democrats who are in total control of that melt-down of a once beautiful city (Democrats are destroyers, not builders) which takes us back for more, to wit:

Park Hotels & Resorts said Monday that it was stopping payment on a $725 million loan secured by the two hotels, the 1,921-room Hilton San Francisco Union Square and 1,024-room Parc 55.

The Hilton is San Francisco’s largest hotel, and Parc 55 is the fourth largest.

Thomas J. Baltimore Jr., CEO of the Virginia-based company, called the decision “very difficult, but necessary,” noting record-high downtown office vacancy, “concerns over street conditions,” and reduced convention business.

    end quotes

And that is all thanks to WOKE and the criminal-friendly policies of the Democrats, which again takes us back to that story of the decline and fall of once-great San Francisco, incidentally Nancy Pelosi’s hometown, with this spew of the utterly ridiculous, to wit:

The announcement comes less than a week after the San Francisco Travel Association launched a $6 million ad campaign – it’s biggest ever – to lure tourists back to the troubled California city.

“Tourism is vital to the city’s economic recovery,” Joe D’Alessandro, San Francisco Travel’s president and CEO, said in a prepared statement.

He added that the campaign is designed to show the “authentic San Francisco experience people love and dream about.”

    end quotes

Get ******* real there, dude – who in their right mind wants to come to San Francisco for an “authentic San Francisco experience” Democrats love and dream about, like getting robbed, getting shot by illegal aliens, walking in streets filled with human **** and used needles, having your car broken into, having your catalytic converter stolen, etc.?

Going back to the story, it continues as follows:

Michael Shellenberger, the San Fransico author who has blamed the city’s far politics for many of its current problems, noted on Twitter the timing of the two announcements.

“San Francisco’s tourism board launched a $6M ad campaign to overcome the city’s global reputation as a drug and crime-ridden hell hole,” he wrote.

“Six days later, the owner of two of the city’s biggest hotels announced it was abandoning them because it lost faith that the city can recover.”

Shellenberger pointed the finger at California Governor Gavin Newsom, the former mayor of San Francisco, who he said “spends his days obsessing about how to become president and trolling red state governors.”

He also took aim at the city’s current mayor, London Breed, who he said is “disrespected by her own employees.”

San Francisco has been struggling with rising crime and rampant homelessness and public-defecation crises.

In 2018, the Guardian questioned “Why is San Francisco … covered in human feces?”

A downtown Whole Foods recently shuttered due in part to spiraling crime.

Nordstrom and Office Depot are among other retailers fleeing the city’s downtown area.

In March, members of a CNN crew reporting about crime in the city had their bags stolen out of their rental car.

“Got robbed again,” a senior correspondent tweeted in response.

Earlier this year, the San Francisco Chronicle questioned whether a series of interconnected forces – empty office spaces, shuttered businesses, sharply-reduced mass transit – has trapped the city in “in the biggest ‘doom loop’ of all.”

“This is how San Francisco could die,” the report states.

    end quotes

No argument on that last from me, anyway!

So if you want your town to become another San Francisco, so you too can have the “authentic San Francisco experience people love and dream about” of walking in human **** on your own streets, your choice is clear – BIDEN/HARRIS 2024!

    Vote early, vote often!

  7. And talk about another story that the venerable Cape Charles Mirror has been all over in the past being once again proved true, that being Joe Biden’s blatant lies about not knowing the Afghanistnam government and military were going to rapidly collapse when a panicked Joe Biden skedaddled out of there like a chicken-killing dog running away with its tail between its legs from a shotgun-wielding farmer, let’s go to a Fox News article titled “‘Embarrassing’ dissent cable shows Biden ‘allowed’ Afghanistan to collapse: Rep. Issa” by Jessica Chasmar on 6 June 2023 for more of that story, to wit:

EXCLUSIVE: Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., is slamming the Afghanistan dissent cable that Secretary of State Antony Blinken allowed congressional access to Tuesday as “embarrassing” and said it debunks the Biden administration’s narrative that it was caught off guard by the country’s swift collapse in 2021.

The State Department’s “dissent channel” allows for contrary views to be expressed by officials.

The document, signed by 23 staffers and diplomats, warned about the possibility of a rapid Taliban advance as the U.S. left the country, which President Biden and other top officials downplayed at the time.

    end quotes

And by doing so, as has been previously reported on in the CCM, Joe Biden completely discredited himself, and so, does not deserve to be sitting in the white house as our president, which takes us back for more, to wit:

“What we saw was their prediction, with great accuracy, of exactly what was going to happen and what the outcome would be if they did not change their directions,” the congressman said.

“We saw a response from the office of the State Department saying, ‘We hear you, and we agree, basically, we don’t take it lightly.’”

“And then, obviously, we know what they did and didn’t do, which was totally insufficient for the warning that was given.”

“They redacted the specific names, but we now know that many of them were senior executive surrogates, meaning people that are paid at the highest level in the State Department,” he continued.

“They knew and understood that there was no way that the Afghan military was going to defend successfully.”

“They did not disagree with that, and as a result, they knew that Kabul would fall within weeks, that the Taliban would do what they have done, which is to continue to kill and persecute individuals, and they allowed it to happen.”

Issa said the cable also revealed that “there was no expectation by the State Department that there would be sustainability” in the region and knew that the billions of dollars of U.S. military equipment that was left behind was going to fall into the Taliban’s hands.

Issa said the cable went out on July 13, 2021, the response came back a week later on July 20, and Kabul officially fell weeks later on Aug. 15.

“Every prediction came through, including the quick collapse of the Afghan army,” he said.

“This is classified because it’s embarrassing,” he added.

“There’s absolutely no reason the American people shouldn’t see it, and I will not rest until they do.”

“The bottom line is nothing ends here,” added Issa’s communications director, Jonathan Wilcox.

“This obliterates the administration’s big lie on Afghanistan – that this could not have been foretold, nobody could have seen this coming, nothing could have done to prevent it,” he said.

    “We know it was received.”

“We know it wasn’t followed,” he continued.

“Their personnel on the ground saw this, reported it, warned them, and were ignored.”

This is the first time in U.S. history that a dissent channel cable has been provided to Congress.

“This is an unprecedented step forward in our committee’s investigation into the Afghanistan withdrawal,” McCaul said Monday.

“For the first time in history, the State Department has agreed to allow Congress to view a dissent channel cable.”

“This cable contains first-hand information from Embassy Kabul employees who were on the ground prior to the collapse as well as Secretary Blinken’s response to their concerns.”

McCaul had subpoenaed the document multiple times in the early months of this year, but Blinken had failed to provide it, prompting McCaul to threaten to charge Blinken with contempt of Congress.

Biden’s decision to pull troops from Afghanistan faced widespread global backlash after Taliban insurgents retook the country in a matter of days on Aug. 15, 2021, essentially winning the war 20 years after their ouster by U.S.-led forces.

Just a month earlier, Biden told Americans that the likelihood of a Taliban takeover was “highly unlikely.”

On Aug. 18, 2021, three days after the Taliban seized the capital of Kabul and forced the U.S. Embassy there to evacuate, Biden told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos that intelligence did not indicate the Afghan government would quickly collapse – despite reports stating that is exactly what the intelligence predicted.

The president also falsely claimed that “no one’s being killed” in Afghanistan despite reports at that time of at least seven deaths amid the chaos at Kabul’s airport.

Then on Aug. 26, 2021, during the U.S. military’s mass evacuation at the Kabul airport, suicide bombers killed 183 people, including 13 U.S. service members.

The U.S. retaliated by launching two drone strikes against suspected ISIS-K terrorists, one of which ended up killing 10 Afghan civilians, including seven children.

Critics immediately demanded that heads roll for the Afghanistan debacle, with calls for the firings of Blinken, national security adviser Jake Sullivan, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley, but no one was fired.

Despite telling Americans after Afghanistan’s fall that “the buck stops with me,” Biden repeatedly blamed former President Trump and the Afghan military for the country’s swift collapse.

While Biden admitted that the Taliban’s takeover had caught the U.S. off guard, he has insisted he made the right decision in ending the war and has declined to fire a single official over the pullout.

However, critics have often compared the withdrawal to the fall of Saigon at the end of the Vietnam War and have said Biden’s foreign policy blunders have given the green light to authoritarian leaders to act aggressively across the globe.

The State Department did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
